This is a nice set and you can??t beat the price for 5 pieces. It perfectly matches my oil rubbed bronze faucet and light fixture.

I followed the template for installation, measured carefully and used a level. I had no trouble with any piece except the toilet paper holder. The template has the sides of the toilet paper holder too close together so that the plunger bar that holds the paper roll is squeezed too much when installed into the holder and the toilet paper cannot roll freely around that bar. It??s an easy fix: use the template to mark placement of the screws, but install one side a half inch further out (away) than the template shows. You want that plunger bar to be depressed just enough to get the end of the bar into the holder opening, but don??t install the two sides of the holder any closer than that. If you make this half inch adjustment, you won??t have to adjust it later like I did. I had to take one of the holder sides off, move the screws further away by a half inch and reinstall the screws. The round base of the holder is large enough that it covered both my original screw holes and the new ones a half inch further away. So I didn??t have to patch the wall. Just be careful when you install the toilet paper holder. I took a photo showing the toilet paper holder with the half inch adjustment already done and the photo shows that there is about 1/8 inch of free space between the toilet paper roll and the sides of the holder. I still highly recommend this set. I really do like it; it was well worth the price for 5 pieces, and it perfectly matches other oil rubbed bronze fixtures in my bathroom. P.S. other reviewers complained that the towel bar rods spin around. That does not happen on mine because I installed them carefully using the template. They can spin if you try to twist them around, but they don??t spin around when I remove or replace the towel. They are fairly snug.

First and foremost, this is a decent looking set for the price. This may be enough for some to purchase. But for the installation hassle, I would spend the extra $10-$20 elsewhere. First off, the packaging was strange. I’m guessing that is one of the reasons they can sell cheaper. The items came in a shipping box wrapped in bubble wrap with the mounting hardware. I’ve installed a handful of these sets and they usually come either in a retail box or packaging. No such thing here. Nothing really wrong with this, but not something I’ve seen. But lets get to the real issues.

The mounting hardware for this set is just horrid. As I mentioned, I have installed several sets of these. All the mounting hardware brackets Ive installed had a single hole in the middle. It makes sense as it centers the bracket and honestly, its all it needs. These brackets are smaller than Ive seen and have 2 holes. If you do not fasten both holes the bracket will have a tendency to move one way or the other. Which brings me to the HUGE issue with these. I reused one hole from the old bracket I removed which already had a sheetrock anchor. Then put another screw through the top. I didn’t put another sheetrock anchor in top hole because the brackets are so small that you would have 2 anchors on top of each other very close together. Doesn’t make sense. When I went to mount the hardware onto the brackets the set screw kept missing the bracket and just pushes it away from the wall. This happened on both sides of the towel bar. I ended up making small wedges from plastic I had laying around to kick the bottom of the bracket out a bit for the set screw to go behind the bracket. It was the only way i could get the bracket secure to the wall and to get the hardware secure to the bracket. I attached a pic for reference. I did not have this issue with the hand towel piece but when I went to install the toilet paper roll holder same thing happened on one side there as well! Its just a horrible design and I’ve never encountered this in my life.

The icing on the cake is that one piece has an imperfection. I attached a pic of it as well. It has a flat spot on the curved bracket and the bronze isn’t smooth like the rest. Of course it is on the top too and the light catches the flat spot perfectly. The towel bar and the toilet paper brackets are identical. So I chose to put on the toilet paper side. Only way I could have hidden the flat spot would be to flip it upside down but then you’d see the set screw.

One last note. This set is much closer to black than bronze. I installed another set in my master bath that is much more bronze. I regret just not buying that same set for the spare bath. I could have sent this back but I was already invested with everything torn apart. The towel bar itself is most definitely black if you look at the pic. I give this 2 stars because it is a value with a decent look. I should have spent the extra $10 for the same set I bought for the master. live and learn.

Customer Questions & Answers

Diameter of the bar?
Answer:

I’m pretty sure they were 3/8″. Plenty sturdy. The only thing I thought was a little different was the way they were attached to the wall. You put the bracket on the wall and then you hook the bottom of the eschuion and then lift up and snap the top into place. If you haven’t hung a lot of towel bars this might present??

I bought these for my house but my contractor lost the mounting hardware. What are they called? I cant hang them now.
Answer: They called mounting items, like mounting brackets, screws

Are the towel rods expandable?
Answer: No, the rods are not expandable.

On the towel bar, what is the diameters of the bases that actually attaches to the wall?
Answer:

The bases are roughly about 2 inches in width and 3 1/4 inches in depth.
Very comparable to sets that were priced 2 & 3 times as much in the popular home improvement stores.
Also, very easy to install and good quality.??
